We are one company to have successfully reproduced the set with standard quality by using several years of chess making experience . The Piatigorsky Monarch is 4.4 Inch high and the pieces are amply weighted. The lighter pieces are of boxwood and the darker ones are mahogany stained and polished to shine. Each set is supplied with two additional queens. Piatigorsky is a Staunton-style chess set, truly the best ever designed made now in Amritsar in India. Piatigorsky knight is a single piece unique knight. Remarkably, this historical set has yet to receive the recognition that it deserves and stands least talked about by many collectors. Nearly 19 years after its introduction, this exquisite set of beauty took the platform of two great chess tournaments in U.S. history. In 1963, this spledorous chess set gave honor to the World Champion Tigran Petrosian, along with Paul Keres, Sammy Reshevsky, Svetozar Gligoric, Oscar Panno Miguel Najdorf, Pal Benko and Fridrick Olafsson.
